Given my heritage, the Buckeye State, Ohio, starts with 'O'. Above, I believe this to be 1938 and my dad is standing in front of a covered wagon emblazoned with Fort Ohio. A cursory look brought me to a historic fort near Cumberland, Maryland. Children were dressed up for such occasions it seems in the 1930s...
A year later, my dad is standing in front of the Ohio exhibit at the New York World's Fair in 1939.
About 15 minutes from home is the town of Oxford, Connecticut
Last Winter, Patti captured this lady Cardinal with its Orange beak.
A Favorite was captured last from inside the vehicle (way more than 6 ft. from anybody :), this being the reservoir at Witek Park in Derby CT as a new season begins. Have a happy Easter and a great week!
...50 years ago I lived in OHIO, both Cleveland and then Toledo. I've never been to OXFORD, Connecticut. We have had a nice pair of cardinals at our feeder, that is if the squirrels aren't around. It looks like the trees are budding out in your neck of the woods, it snowed here today. Thanks Ralph for stopping by, take care and have a Joyous Easter.
ReplyDeleteYour old photos are charming and fun to watch. We have history & so many memories.... The lake view is gorgeous. Have a sunny Easter!
ReplyDeleteLove the image of the Cardinal. I hope you have a wonderful Easter and that you, stay safe and healthy.
ReplyDeleteI like your pictures, Ralph. The Mama Cardinal was the best, followed by the Oxford sign. I noticed they didn't put up the population, I googled it and found "The population was 12,683 at the 2010 Census. Oxford is the 26th-wealthiest town in the state by median household income."
ReplyDeleteI thought, that might be about the population of our subdivision, Cinco Ranch, Teas. We have you beat a little, our population was 18,274 (2010) with an area of 4.942 mi². We brag, "Every thing is bigger n Texas.) You can google Cinco Ranch, Texas if you'd like, for more.
You all Stay Safe !!
