The Weekend Roundup, 'I'

It is time again for my favorite photo meme, The Weekend Roundup. The third vowel offers a few challenges but I found a few that ought to work...

This is for two of the prompts, Inside and Starts with 'I', we are Inside the Connecticut Legislative Office Building in Hartford. The marble floor in the lobby is exquisite - what I would like (legally, only :) is a mere 200 ft² to (18 m²) of the marble tile, I have just the perfect space for it. Really...

In-Flight was taken by our daughter in a 737 over North Carolina

Here is an Irish Flag being hoisted by Ansonia Connecticut city hall. This year's Irish flag raising will be in two weeks on March 14.

Also at the Irish Flag Raising on March 14 will be these dancers from the Mulkerin School of Irish Dance in West Haven CT. They are fabulous!

A Favorite. As we are, this cardinal in our forsythia who is also awaiting the return of Spring.Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup, 'H'

I'm back this week for Tom's fun meme, The Weekend RoundupThe eighth letter of the alphabet is today's feature, so let the prompts begin...

Starts with 'H' and High is this classic shot of the collapsed roof on the Hartford Civic Center (now XL Center). High up on the 22nd floor of the 'Gold Building' in my father's work office is he and my grandmother surveying the wreckage. On 19 January 1978 the massive roof collapsed in the early morning, hours after spectators left a University of Connecticut basketball game (not hockey as the video notes). This 1978 photo is kind of eerie with the reflections overlooking the wreckage...

Here is a quick video about the 1978 roof collapse

Harbor is another, more specifically, the New Haven CT Harbor. The largest item shipped and exported from here is scrap steel...

A natural 'H' is, of course,  Horse. Horse and pony rides were available at last September's Harvest Festival in Ansonia.

I also like the pony party and petting zoo logo. A disarming smiling Happy Horse is what I see...

A Favorite is Patti's capture of yesterday's sunset over our backyard. Have a great Week all!

The Weekend Roundup, 'F'

Good Friday afternoon! It's again time to participate in Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. The sixth letter is featured and my past beckons...Starts with "F." "F"ull. A Favorite.

Begins with 'F' includes Family, and it looks like a Fun Family Full of love! The date is 22 Aug. 1976 where we were in town for the 50th wedding anniversary weekend of my grandparents, Ralph and Agnes. This is at the Holiday Inn in Steubenville Ohio. The Families were of my Father from East Hartford, CT and his sister, my Aunt Terry from Fargo North Dakota. It was a Fun time!

How about a photo from 23 Dec. 1980, Flying from Jacksonville to West Palm Beach Florida we have an early morning look ar the Rolls-Royce RB211 jet engine, this type of engine referred to as a Fanjet or Turbo Fan (really :)

President Ford, the 38th President of the US, has a city park named for him in Omaha, Nebraska. Although he was a House Representative member for Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1949-1973, he was actually born in a house at 32nd & Woolworth in Omaha.

Here is a 1955 Ford Fairlane (another 'F' could be Fifty-Five...)

A Favorite. Just a recent look at the center of Ansonia Connecticut at the corner of Bridge and Main Streets. Ths long Southerly sun offers a a soft leafless tree shadow. Have a great week all!
