The Weekly Roundup 'M'

Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup returns for the week. I have searched the archives and this week's letter has lots of choices, so here's mine...

Starts with ’M’ begins with Manhattan in New York City, Easter Sunday 1961. Here is my dad and aunt Terry standing on a balcony showing the skyline. In the distance and I believe we see the construction of the iconic Pan Am (now Met Life) building, opened in 1963.

The restored Derby (CT) Civil War Monument looks resplendent in the cold yet beautiful Winter sky, taken this past January.

The restored Charles Morgan whaling ship is a main attraction at the Mystic Seaport in Mystic, CT. It is a great attraction! Photo taken in 1986.

A Favorite. The always lovely Patti captured this wonderful scene on the Derby CT town green! I cannot explain what it is, but the berries, flags and deep blue sky is great! Have a great weekend all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Mum is the word...

We look for the shadowy underworld (in this case, literally :) here, there and just about everywhere! Here are mums with color under a beautiful autumnal day in Southern New England. Sunflower Farm in nearby Orange, CT is full of these beauties Since we never know when the frost will arrive, we savor these days. Shadow Shot Sunday 2 seems the perfect place to see bold hues and shadows too!

The Weekly Roundup 'L'

It’s time for a favorite site, Tom’s fun meme The Weekend Roundup. The twelfth letter of the alphabet is featured, and I am taking a couple of liberties but do think the theme is maintained :)

Beginning with ‘L’ is the Latex Foam Products. Of greater importance was the fire and leveling of the Latex Foam Products facility on Ansonia’s West Main Street, May 14, 2001. We found these prints last year. Today, Latex Foam Products in a facility in nearby Shelton. The black smoke is seen over our hilltop home and seen as far as 15 miles / 24 Km away. (Publication links are live)

Another ‘L’ is Big Stony Lake near Park Rapids, Minnesota. This 1981 scanned print is my waterskiing cousin.

The third 'L' is HRH Linus, our fluffy family feline. Perhaps he is getting ready to destroy the village - but not really as he is a) Too lazy and b) actually likes sitting on the abrasive ‘snow’ instead. Good kitty!

Finally, this is my favorite, a Lady Cardinal. Patti captured her yesterday after the left eggshells on a patio table for our avian friends. A few cardinals arrived to take part. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - Crosshatch

(Note: I'm migrating my blog content to our Valley-Voice CT Newsletter blog https://thevalley-voicenews.blogspot.com)

This week's post for Shadow Shot Sunday 2 allows us to see the more stylish side of nature - or not. Here is a young male cardinal wearing plaid made of iron. Since '70s plaid (see bonus photo of yours truly in a stunning 1975 motif :) is returning back in style for humans, why not in the avian world too?

The Weekly Roundup 'K'

(My Airhead-RV is now published in our Valley-Voice CT Newsletter Blog)

A rainy Friday is the perfect time for Tom's fun meme The Weekly Roundup. Today's letter was easy, many a subject sits in the photo archives...

Starting with 'K' includes the state of Kansas. In 1938, my Dad is pictured at the Colorado / Kansas border. Grandpa liked state line signs, so that's why they stopped :) Note the Colorado county they were leaving...

Another 'K' is for Kids, this of the human kind. The backstory here is at a family party in 1996, our son, a cousin and our daughter look terribly bored at what they considered a boring grown-up event, They show it here, managing a brief smile when discovered by the photographer...

Key West, Florida sits at the bottom of the USA. My aunt took this photo in 1993.

Finally, how about some actual Kids, that of kid goats named Bonnie and Clyde who were in Seymour last year. One could spell Cute with a 'K' if so inclined. Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup - "I"

(Note that I am migrating my Airhead-RV blog to our Valley-Voice CT Newsletter Blog starting today. Simplicity rules :)

Saturday means it is time for Tom's fun meme The Weekly Roundup. Today's letter offers a challenge, so I found only a couple of appropriate subjects...

The first 'J' is, of course, New Jersey. Our daughter was on the Atlantic at the vacation town of Seaside. She sent a few pics and this being a typical arcade on its boardwalk. Being a money pit to the consumer looking for fun, the name is apt as Leo is Lucky every summer vacation season...
The coolest 'J' in our yard are the multitude of Blue Jays. This one was seen this week. We believe it to be a hatchling from this past Spring as his plumage on top is not as well defined like the Blue Jays we usually see.
We found out a couple of years ago that Blue Jays love eggshells. So we offer those to our feathered friends!
Our Blue Jay friends hang around all year, 24/7/365. This is feb. 2018 and while he/she doesn't appear to like the snowy day, his plumage allows them to bear the cold. Give him an eggshell! Have a great week!
