The Weekend Roundup, 'Z'

The last Friday in June is here, and today's prompt for Tom's fun meme The Weekend Roundup is the 26th letter of the alphabet. With a quick look through the photo archive, I think I found a few...

'Z' here is a temperature Below Zero. This is Grandpa in a cold Fargo North Dakota around Christmas Time 1970. This temp is in Fahrenheit and -4°F (-20°C) which is cold to me in any climate...

These are views of the Leonard Zakim Memorial Bridge (routes I-93 and US-1) over the Charles River in Boston. Opened in 2003, this bridge is not only stylish, it has been designed to withstand a hurricane winds in excess of 200 MPH (325 kPH)! Note the offset towers in the top photo.

This rates amongst my favorite fried doughs, these Zeppoles for desert. Paired with an espresso, the blend of caramel, chocolate and fried dough are a heavenly end to a meal!

Does anybody else remember Mr. Zip, the character who promoted the US Zip Code switchover in 1963-64? He is quite winsome...

A Favorite and another 'Z', that being Buzz! The always lovely Patti captured this busy and buzzy bumblebee hard at work gathering pollen recently. Have a great week all!

The Weekend Roundup, 'Y'

It is another lovely Friday in Southern Connecticut,, so it's time to be part of Tom's fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. This week's prompt is the 25th letter (and sometimes vowel :) of the alphabet, not that easy. But doable, at least in my photo archives, some from the distant past, some not, and one clue alone fulfills the prompt...

The main prompt is 'Y' and that means Yellow. This is a yellow 8-yard container (often AKA: dumpster). We were getting a new floor and needed to remove the old. This container was the cleanest I've ever seen and it was Yellow!

My big sister is resplendent in Yellow on Easter Sunday, 1968 at our East Hartford CT home. Note the late '60s hair...

My old friend Mike drove Chevrolet Vegas (the ones that didn't rust out completely that is!) and its cousin, this Yellow Chevy Monza. Photo taken in 1990 and the paint was a bit chalky but still Yellow...

Our daughter is wearing Yellow corduroy overalls, looking cute at about 22 months old...

This sunset has a lot of color, its brilliant Yellow a stunning contrast to the bold red hues - the sky looks as if it is on fire. Have a great week all!

Shadow Shot Sunday - My Shadowy Self

The sun's angle is changing to its Summer mode of just above. Knowing that I was casting a shadow, I asked the always lovely Patti to capture my better side shadow, which she did. Why from behind? During this covid era, I haven't had a haircut in months and from the back, it looks better :) My entry for Shadow Shot Sunday 2 was captured at Osbornedale Sate Park in our neighbor of Derby, CT. It was a lovely day to chase shadows!

The Weekend Roundup, 'X'

It is a glorious Friday in Southern New England, so a perfect time to be part of Tom's always fun meme, The Weekend Roundup. This week's prompt is tough, but I have a few examples (kinda, sorta :). So, away we go...

First is Times Square in New York City with my dad in,  I believe, 1939, The intersection of Seventh Avenue at Broadway forms a 'X' as Seventh and Broadway  enter the scene yet diverge at the building with the Planters Peanuts sign. I can see the 'X'

Extreme has an 'X' in it and the Extreme BMX stunt riders are in action at a festival in our town of Ansonia. Both views are the same - for the top photo I was on this side of Main Street and the always lovely Patti was on the other side. We both captured the great stunt rider as he defies the laws of physics and gravity...

My second wheelchair van was a 1998 Ford E-150 Club Wagon XLT, at least the left back door says so...

A Favorite is this little boy fishing on Pickett's Pond at Osbornedale State Park in Derby CT. It was a beautiful day and I hope the little guy caught that fish that always gets away! Have a great week all!
